Great Falls Optimist Club Presents $12,000+ Check to Local Nonprofit, Kidz Clubhouse Great Falls, VA. – The Great Falls Optimist Club presented a check for $12,332.45 to Kidz Clubhouse on Thursday, May 15 at 7 pm at the Great Falls Library during the Optimist Club’s regular meeting. On hand to receive the check was founder Diane Anderson as well as children who have attended the organization’s programs, and their parents. Kids Clubhouse is a nonprofit organization in Great Falls that serves the needs of children and adults with disabilities, their families and caregivers. The organization provides evening and weekend respite care, camps during school breaks and support groups for parents. Resources available for families include a referral network to specialists, free tickets to area events, counseling, in-home care and fun family events. (www.kidzclubhouse.org ) “Kidz Clubhouse exemplifies the mission of the
Optimist Club, to bring out the best in kids,” said Optimist Club President Lisa
Jackson. “If any club is worthy of our support,
The Optimist Club raised the funds through its successful raffle at this year’s Spring Festival, and through the generous donation of an anonymous Club member. The ability of the Optimists to make the contribution at this time is especially poignant because Kidz Clubhouse was unsure earlier this year if it was going to be able to continue providing services, due to financial constraints. After putting out a plea for help to the community, developing a strong marketing plan, and establishing a fundraising committee that sprang into action, the organization is now poised to provide summer camp and other services this year and to secure its future. “So many families depend on Kidz Clubhouse,” Jackson said. “The mostly volunteer organization does amazing work on a shoestring budget, and we’re delighted to help them continue. Diane’s concept for the organization and her untiring dedication have been a godsend to families with special needs children in our area.” |
