Great Falls Optimist Club Provides Thanksgiving Dinner and a Week of Food to Over 100 Area Families

Once again this year, the Great Falls Optimist Club helped provide a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner, complete with turkey, potatoes, and cranberry sauce plus food for an entire week to over 100 families in the surrounding community.  The Optimist Club joined with Enrich NOVA, a local church-based program, to identify recipients from seven schools in the area.

“This is such a rewarding activity for our club,” said Angela Bongiorno, chairperson of the Thanksgiving Dinner program.  “We get tremendous satisfaction from knowing that dozens of children and their families were able to enjoy a delicious Thanksgiving meal that might otherwise not have been possible. This year, thanks to our partnership with Enrich NOVA, we were also able to provide food for an entire week." Over 70 volunteers hit the streets with boxes of food, directions to homes, and the spirit of giving filling their hearts to deliver the meals one cold, sunny Saturday.

"Soon after your delivering food for our families, I received phone calls of gratitude," said one parent liaison from Meadowland Elementary School in Sterling. " I want to share how appreciative our families were to receive this great amount of food and I’m sure they told your team members as well! Thank you for offering this service!”
